PLMIG Announces PLM User Forum Events in Europe & USA, November 2008

Oxford, England: The Product Lifecycle Management Interest Group (PLMIG) announced that it will hold two 2-day workshop events for PLM user companies on November 13-14 in Reading, UK and November 18-19, 2008 in Cleveland, OH.

They will provide a neutral, independent platform for PLM managers to meet and to work together in detail on the issues that are affecting their implementations. Staging the two events in consecutive weeks means that the results from the European participants can be fed into the US meeting, and delegates at either meeting will receive the results of both.

The objective of the User Forum events is to provide PLM practitioners with a far greater level of interaction than is possible in other formats. Roger Tempest, co-Founder of the PLMIG, confirms: "There are many outstanding user events at which you can meet your peers and exchange ideas, but the contact time is normally measured in minutes, rather than hours. The User Forum format offers you two entire days working with other experienced practitioners, with an agenda that you have agreed between yourselves."

The format of the events and the range of issues to be covered have been developed via extensive feedback from over 20 companies on both sides of the Atlantic. Delegates can present an overview of their own PLM environment as input to the discussions, and the groups will aim to generate the common material they need. The role of the PLMIG is to manage the debate and write up the output documentation, which should be available by mid-December.

The PLMIG has no geographical restrictions on membership or activities. The scope of the PLMIG is the consideration and advancement of Product Lifecycle Management and its related disciplines.
